Downtown Portland circa 1920
At the turn of the 20th century in New York City, many publishers and composers lived and worked in the cramped streets of Manhattan. Legend has it that passersby heard such a cacophony of piano keys that it resembled the banging of tin pans. On those very streets that became known as Tin Pan Alley, men like George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart began crafting a little thing known as musical theater.

Fast forward to the here and now:  Tin Pan Alley Theatre Company is making American musical theater history in Portland, Oregon!  As the only repertory musical theater company in Portland, TPATC will revive lost classics and bring back to the stage seldom done shows in the fashion that the composers themselves intended them to be presented!  This summer, TPATC proudly presents Pippin, by Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz, and Annie Warbucks, the Portland premiere of the musical sequel about everybody’s favorite red headed orphan.  As an added  bonus, this winter we are proud to showcase Portland’s finest musical theater talent in an evening of wine, dinner, and musical revue presenting the candidates for next year’s shows after which, you the patron can vote on what you would like to see on our stage next season!

Please take a moment to browse through our site.  We will have a production blog updated throughout the rehearsal process so you can get a glimpse of what happens here at TPATC, as well as various video features to check out!  We’re so excited to have you join us as we begin our journey of theater in the city of roses.  Word of mouth is a company’s best friend, so please, tell your friends and family to visit and support our company! We look forward to seeing you this summer!
